What is cookie?
Cookies are small blocks of data created by a web server while a user is browsing a website and placed on the user’s computer or other device by the user’s web browser. Cookies are placed on the device used to access a website, and more than one cookie may be placed on a user’s device during a session. Cookies are set when a web server requests a browser (e.g. Firefox, Internet Explorer, Chrome, Opera, Safari) and does NOT contain software that can access information on a user’s device.
What are cookies used for?
Cookies are used to produce anonymous statistics such as Google Analytics to help us understand how a user navigates through our web pages, thus allowing us to improve their structure and content without identifying the user.
What type of cookies do we use?
We use two types of cookie segments. Session cookies are stored on your computer (desktop, mobile, etc.) and stay there until the end of your browsing session. Persistent cookies are stored on your device and remain there until you delete them. These cookies are still stored on your computer after you close your session and exit your browser.
Why are they important?
Cookies are at the core of the effective functioning of the Internet, helping to create a user-friendly browsing experience for each user’s preferences and interests. The rejection or disabling of cookies may make some sites unusable.
Refusing or disabling cookies does not mean that you will no longer receive an online advertisement. However, it means that it will no longer be able to consider your preferences and interests, as evidenced by your browsing behaviour.
Do cookies contain personal information?
Cookies do not require personal information, and in most cases, they do not identify internet users. Personal data may be collected only to facilitate certain functionality for the user. Unauthorized persons cannot access such data.
How do I disable cookies?
Disabling and refusing cookies may cause you to have difficulty navigating the site. Also, refusing to accept cookies does not mean you will no longer receive/see online advertisements.
You can set your browser not to accept cookies or set your browser to accept cookies from a particular site. However, for example, if you don’t register with cookies, you won’t leave comments.
You can change cookie settings on all modern browsers. These settings are usually found in your browser’s Parameters or Preferences menu.
The following links may help you understand these settings, and you can use your browser’s “Help” option for more information.
